About us

The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, established in 1793, is a registered Charity best known as the organisers of the Royal Cornwall Show.

In order to utilise the facilities all year around, we also run the Pavilion Centre, a state of the art, purpose-designed complex, with a selection of rooms catering for 6 to 300 people for events such as meetings, conferences, exhibitions, training seminars, parties, celebrations and weddings.

We also have the Royal Cornwall Event Centre, which consists of two large exhibition halls and around 90 acres of open space.

Purpose of the Role

• Create and deliver an annual strategic sales plan which aims to significantly increase sales across both venues all year round.

• Contribute to the execution of the sales plan to increase sales across both venues.

• Assist with sales of sponsorship, advertising, and hospitality for the Royal Cornwall Show.

• Source and apply for Grant funding for our education and charitable objectives.

• Respond to enquiries as received in a timely and accurate manner.

• Produce client proposals efficiently, with great attention to detail.

• Prepare accurate and up to date function sheets in a timely manner.

• Effectively upsell to increase the average value of each event.

• To work in conjunction with colleagues in operations to ensure the event is delivered successfully.

Key Responsibilities

• Confidently make telephone sales calls, both cold and warm leads.

• Arrange and deliver client viewings of the venues.

• Actively promote the venues at industry events (exhibitions, networking events, awards etc.)

• Deliver presentations to clients or agents to promote the venues.

• Build relationships with clients, agents, and key stakeholders.

• Generate ideas and solutions to maximise opportunities and revenues.

• Proactively use the event diary.

• Book ancillary services that clients require for their events.

• Ensure the accurate and timely production of invoices, orders and other relevant documentation.

• Ensure client records are kept up to date.

• Assist in securing and developing sponsorship, advertising, and hospitality sales for the Royal Cornwall Show, helping to generate commercial income and build long-term relationships with existing and prospective partners.

• Ensure 3rd party websites are up to date with images and copy.

• Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure successful delivery of the sales plan

Experience & Qualifications

• Previous experience within a hotel, venue sales or events department is desirable, but notrequired.
