There's so much happening!

This was one to remember!

A total of 125,748 people visited the 2010 Royal Cornwall Show – the third-highest total ever recorded.

The spectacular programme of entertainment in the main ring was one of the factors contributing to the show’s success.

High quality competition in the cattle, sheep and pig sections – including the first-ever South Devon Cattle national show – maintained the Royal Cornwall’s reputation as one of the country’s leading agricultural shows.

Equine, rare breeds and goat sections were also well supported and the show had over 1,000 trade stands.

The visit of Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall was a highlight of the show.

On the final day, The Band of HM Royal Marines played an arrangement of Congratulations to mark the award of Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order to Lady Mary Holborow, deputy show president and Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Royal visitors go walkabout

It was a good day for walking when the joint presidents of the Royal Cornwall Show 2010 visited on the first day.

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall completed a packed tour, starting in the Cornwall Food and Farming Pavilion.

Large crowds gathered as the royal couple set off on separate tours, preferring to walk through the crowded avenues rather than being driven.

Amongst the features visited by the Duchess were the Flower Show, Dog Show and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution stand.

Meanwhile, the Duke visited the forestry section, cattle, sheep, pigs and the Young Farmers’ Club marquee. He also unveiled the plaque to officially open the show’s new sheep shearing shed.

Later, in the main ring, the Duke presented trophies to horse classes winners.
