Western Morning News Stage

The exciting programme on this stage, adjacent to the East Gate will again focus on a wide range of acts from Cornwall.

Close harmony on stage

Western Morning News Stage

Halfway Harmony will be appearing on Saturday.

These male singers, based in south east Cornwall, are all members of a traditional Cornish choir.

After regular practice they nip down the pub and sing a different repertoire.

Beatles and Beach; folk more modern material. It’s fun and sounds great.

Formed in the early 1980’s, the group has maintained a tradition of “singing for pleasure” and has performed all over the west country and further afield, including Brittany, Germany and Ireland.

The Cornwall Fiddle Orchestra

Western Morning News Stage

Also appearing on Saturday.

Now here is something novel – the Cornwall Fiddle Orchestra.

It began life in August last year and now has 50 playing members.

They practise once a week at Helston Community College and perform a tremendous range of music from slow airs to “furious, foot-stomping jigs and reels.”

With members ranging in age from eight to 75, the orchestra has six sections – three of violin as well as viola, cello and double bass.

All three days:

  • Professor Goodvibes
  • Cornwall College Big Band
  • Cornwall College Dancers
