Royal Marine Band

Royal Marine Band

Here come the marines!

They are based at Torpoint in Cornwall and travel the world to perform at a huge range of events and occasions.

This summer at the Royal Cornwall Show, where they are certain of a tremendous welcome in Main Arena.

You can catch them and listen to them in a more formal setting on the Kelly’s of Bodmin stand, too.

When this band is not recording a CD or playing in ceremonial role alongside a Royal Navy ship; when it isn’t doing a charity performance or playing for a member of the royal family, you can find them playing another role.

Royal Marine Band

For as well as being top class musicians – each band member must have mastery of at least two instruments – band members play different roles.

Recently, in its secondary role, the band completed a six-month deployment to Kosovo as a part of a medical squadron.

This was followed by a four-month mission to the Middle East as a part of Exercise Saif Sareea.

The band’s military role encompasses a range of duties, which include ambulance driving, administering first-aid, casualty handling, security duties and administrative tasks.

But at the Royal Cornwall Show they will have only one thing on their collective mind – making music!
