Established in 2007, The Duke of Cornwall’s Award celebrates innovation and diversification within the agricultural community. The award is presented to farms based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, which have developed successful enterprises in addition to their main agricultural activities.
This prestigious award is returning for 2020, and the winner will receive a £1,000 cash prize and a signed certificate provided by His Royal Highness The Duke of Cornwall, and will be presented during the Royal Cornwall Show, which is taking place between 4th-6th June.
Previous winners have been farming enterprises that have used their resources, expertise and knowledge to develop successful businesses and community projects which run in harmony with their core farming activities.
An impressive range of projects have been celebrated in the past, including a cheese producer, an events venue, and education providers. 2019 winners, the Roberts family, have farmed at Trenoweth Farm for over 50 years, but in the mid-1990’s set up a day-care facility for adults with learning difficulties.
Nominations for the 2020 award are currently being welcomed for any applicable organisations, businesses and individuals. You can nominate or be nominated if you have been in the past, but previous winners cannot enter.
Nominations close on the 1st March 2020, so if you know of any person or organisation who would be a worthy recipient of this award, make sure you enter soon.
